Does
RAFER really manufacture its products in France ?
Our production is 100% designed and manufactured at our premises
in Saint Chamond. We have a workshop with 35 operators, with an
efficient production tool on a surface area of more than 6000 m².
If my production capacity increases,
will the RAFER chain I have installed still be reliable ?
Do not hesitate to send us any new operating parameters. We will
calculate the new forces applied to the chain in the shortest time
possible.
What is the process for designing
a conveyor chain ?
The first step consists of determining the exact function for which
the chain is required (pulling, pushing, carrying, etc.) followed
by assessing its future constraints (forces, speed, presence of
dust and moisture, phenomena of corrosion and abrasion, maintenance
and lubrication, etc.).
What tension is applied to my chain
?
This is also called "slack strand adjustment", since a
chain should not be tight. The adjustment should absorb the joint
play and compensate for lengthening caused by wear.
For this reason, there is no standard tension value to be applied.
It is more important to ensure the presence of the slack strand,
at the risk of premature wear of the chain .
What is the right travel speed for
my chain ?
The recommended values vary according to the equipment design:
- conveyors with pallets or scrapers: 0.1 to 0.5 m/s
- bucket elevator: 0.2 to 1 m/s
- skip hoist: 0.1 to 0.3 m/s
- overhead conveyors: max. 0.35 m/s.
On the other hand, a low value can cause jerky movements.
How can I ensure correct lubrication
of my chain ?
You should ask yourself the opposite "Is my chain poorly lubricated?
". If this is the case, abnormal noise is the first sign of
any trouble. Then, rusting of the chain is a parameter that is easy
to check, as is the presence of occasional stiffness of the chain.
Can you supply me with a chain that
works without lubrication ?
Yes, if the forces applied to the chain allow it. It is essential
to calculate the forces before operating in lubricant-free mode.
If the pressure allows it, RAFER will offer you the best solution
as regards the metalwork and associated treatment.
